    Since 2020, everyday life at the shelter has changed. More dogs are seen, treated when they need help and given a chance to leave through adoption.

    Around 180

    dogs live at the shelter at any given time. A shelter is only a stopover; each dog needs a person, a family or a foster home.

    days a year, Vesna, Pravo na život and a very small group of volunteers keep showing up. More help in Šabac is urgently needed.

    Why these dogs need you

    Šabac has made real progress. The work at the municipal shelter is now more focused on care, cooperation and finding homes instead of simply making space.

    But the shelter is still full. Vesna Teodorović, Pravo na život, a few volunteers, the shelter team and Strays e.V. can make the dogs visible and cared for. They cannot give every dog a home on their own.

    If you can adopt, come and meet them. If you can help on site, the volunteers need you. If you are abroad, donations and sharing profiles help keep the work going.

    The work has opened a door. Now the dogs need people who walk through it.

    Vaccination, sterilisation, microchipping and basic veterinary care are discussed for the individual dog before handover. Ask what is already done and what still needs attention.

    Photos and notes from the shelter help you get a first honest impression. Before you decide, ask what this dog needs now.

    Meet the dog where possible, ask openly and choose only when the match is responsible for both sides.

    Donate

    Donations help with food, veterinary care, sterilisation and the profile work that helps dogs find homes.

    Help on site

    Walk dogs, take photos, support visits, help with profiles and share reliable information. A few hours can matter.

    Foster

    Give a dog a temporary home. Time away from the shelter can help a frightened dog breathe, learn and become ready for adoption.

    Share

    One shared profile can reach the person who has the space, patience and heart for exactly that dog.
